France 1950 :"Simca Aronde"

In 1954 Ford France marketed its new "Vedette" but not for long because Ford USA decided to get rid of its French branch and Simca who thought that Ford was preparing a small car to compete with their Aronde rushed to buy the Ford factories and their models. The Simca Vedette was born. It existed in different versions more or less luxurious : Trianon Versailles Regence and the estate Marly. From the first Ford Vedette to the last Simca all kept the typical American body style and all were equipped with the old pre war US V8 engine with side valves. The Ariane 1957/63 was an economy version with a 4 cyl 1300cc engine.

France 1950 :"Vedette Ford"
Thinking the recovery would be difficult after the war, Ford USA designed for Mercury an economy car. After they realised their mistake they gave this project to their French branch. Renamed Ford Vedette, the first one get out of the factory in 1949. It was revamped in 1953.
